Right now I'm debating between these two monitors. I need at least 20in mainly for PC and 360 games, but I'll also be watching some movies. My budget is about $350 and I'm open to any other monitors (as long as they're at least 20in).

I've never seen the W2207 in person so I can't comment much on that monitor, besides to say that I love the casing. I'm guessing the it has a TN panel though, given the viewing angles.

I just got my 2007WFP this morning and after messing around with the colors, I love it. S-IPS and I can view it from virtually ANY angle. I've yet to game on it for a substantial amount of time so I can't really comment on the response time -- so far I haven't noticed any ghosting.

Other monitors? Maybe the Acer AL2051W? Its a P-MVA panel... but again, I haven't played with this in person. From what I can tell, some people love them, others hate em. If you don't mind TN, then I'd look at the Samsung 226cw also. Not sure if its available yet... might be.

I had one for my XPS M1710 to game on and hated it.
- HORRID backlight bleed
- Bad black level
- Blue tint over everything

After that I got a FW900 for XPS M1710 and its AWESOME.

I bought a w2207 for my wife. It looks good for the price range as long as you don't move your head even an inch up or down. The vertical color shift, inherit to all TN panels I have read, is very extreme. If this is the same with all TN panels, I honestly don't understand how folks put up with it. But then my wife loves the thing.

Aside from that the blacks are crushed but the colors are very saturated and have nice eye candy effect, again, as long as you lock your head into a scold bridle and padlock yourself stationary to a pole, you should be good.

We use the Dell 2007WFP at work, although they are not calibrated and sadly I am not able to game at work, just based on general office use and web surfing alone its tits up above the w2207.:D

I'll double check my backlight later but its pretty uniform, from what I can tell. I haven't had a chance to mess with my blacks but they're pretty good as it is. As far as the blue tint... mine had a red tint over everything but I just switched to custom colors and it automatically fixed it.

BAM! I really love it. I have also used the w2207 but hated most things about the tn compared to this.

This is easy:
Buy the Dell, and buy the HP from BestBuy. Return whichever one you don't like.

Does Best Buy charge restocking on opened monitors? I know CC does.

I also know Fry's doesn't. ;)

Last I knew no they don't but you're right CC does. That was about 6-8 weeks ago. If you really want to be tricky, when there's a sale price at CC use the $40 off over $200 'moving' coupon that is floating around just be sure to do a good quality color printout, buy at CC, get the receipt pricematched at BB and return the CC one unopened. Don't get misinformed at BB though, the MONITOR return timeframe is 14 days not 30 days. I almost got screwed by that and returned a monitor on the last day once I realized after casually double-checking the return policy

I have Dell 2007WFP and will soon get a HP W2207 as a secondary monitor, want more workspace ;)

HP W2207 damn cheap now, BANG for teh buck!
