Hey guys,

I'll be traveling to china and the Swiss in the next few weeks, and all this hype about the iPhone 4s being a world phone, what do I have to do to get it to work?

In china I usually have a gsm phone with a sim card, can I just disable my service here and pop in a cut Chinese sim card or is it more complicated than that. Some have said I need to ask Verizon to unlock my phone, but I haven't had it for 60 days yet.

What about Europe?

Thanks!

just call it to get unlocked i did it to me but you need to be in a wifi network everytime you put a new sim card in there.

You need to be a Verizon subscriber who's been in good standing for x amount of months. In addition to this, they can only unlock 1 phone every x months (I guess to prevent selling).

Thanks guys

I found this tutorial which was very helpful in case someone else needs to do the same thing.

another question is, what is the best way to make sure i don't get charged international data when i'm abroad. even better, is there a way to suspend my phone here so i won't have to pay for it until i come back? paying for 5 month when i won't be here doesn't make much sense to me.

Thanks.

^ Thanks for the info, I have wondered about this for the future as well.
