I need to get a pretty decent 20" WS monitor for use at school with my old computer and don't want to spend a lot or setting for a cheapie TN screen, so I was thinking about getting a VX2025WM since they're about $340 which is roughly the same as the Dell 2007WFP, but the Dell has the lottery issue. I do mostly 3D modeling, CAD and the occasional gaming.

Those 2 are a tough choice at this time...the VX2025WM is no longer in production but it seems that you have a place to purchase one. Just be aware that if there are issues with the monitor that requires an RMA that you'll likely get a newer model in return that has a TN panel instead of the pretty decent P-MVA on the VX2025WM. The 2007WFP is a higher class of monitor that is loaded with features missing on the Viewsonic but like you said there is the lottery issue..

2025wm FTW.

I would also suggest the samsung 226BW monitor. But be forewarned there is a lottery on it as well, but if you are lucky enough to get an S panel which is made by samsung instead of an A or C panel. its possibly the best 22" monitor on the market for less than the 2025.

Go with the dell, decide you don't want it, buy the VX2025WM...

and sell me the Dell!

There ya go, problem solved! :p

Seroiusly though, go with the Dell, I think it is an awsome monitor!

Thanks for the responses. I was really looking at the 226BW, but the lottery on that turned me off. I think I'll try my luck with a 2007WFP.

More like bizarre post....DVI is digital, contrast is adjusted through the videocard drivers. Speaking of drivers...you might want to try updating yours if you are limited in resolutions. (1680x1050 will be the max)

i have a 6600GT

i have a samsung 226 bw dont like him but i can go to 1280x800 or 960 and so on

on DELL 2007WFP on their site the spec of this minitor is very limited..... is it the graphic card that decide of the resolution ( if the monitor dont have it ...for exemple 1280x800 not on spec of the monitor

tyvm

do you like more your dell than your acer?

I'm sure those resolutions don't look very good on your 226BW...all lcd's have a native resolution (1680x1050 in the case of all 20" widescreens) and anything else doesn't look good. I like both of my monitors for different reasons..the Acer has striking looks plus a glossy screen coating which makes colors look more saturated. The Dell is also high quality and loaded with features...one of which is 1:1 pixel mapping which maintains aspect ratio when using lower resolutions. (but not with DVI)

IS THE LOTTERY STILL THERE PVA OR ISP ?

IS THE DELL (ISP)FAST ENOUGH FOR RACING GAMES?

TYVM

WANT TO ORDER THIS WEEK
