Ok, its come down to these two (I'll be using Bing cash back too). The 266H from ZZF

and the I-Inc from TD

This is going on my main computer. I do a good bit a reading from Firefox and Chrome but mostly I'm playing FPS or watching video. I stream Media Center recordings from my other system (HD) and watch movies (dvd).

Both of these get great reviews but is there any reason to choose one over the other (other than size)?

When you're buying a monitor that will be used for gaming, especially FPS, you have to be careful of the input lag.

Most monitors rated 5 ms or 2 MS (G2G) or anything between that will do just fine for output lag. Unless you're extremely sensitive most people won't notice the difference between 5 and 2 MS.

However, input lag is a completely separate issue. It is the delay that goes from your controller (or say mouse) to the screen, and in many cases this number can be really high despite the output lag being low. Input lag is a number that is not advertised anywhere, often times you have to find it through review's and their testing of the hardware. Even then, most sites do not record this data.

I can say that the VW266H has been hailed as one of the best TN gaming monitors out there, and the output and input lag should be just fine. The second display is bigger, but will probably lag more and I am uncertain of its input lag.

I grabbed the Asus. I never laid my eyes on either of these but I did see the 25.5" Samsung in person and text/video looked great over 25.5". I wasn't comfortable with 1920x1200 over 27.5" without seeing it or something close to it first.

Yeah,

The ASUS also seems better for its more numerous inputs.

Please let us all hear how you like it when you get it.

Peace,
C. Livingstone
