vsynch woes

Ive got a really crappy monitor (a Hitachi v700) and in a lot of games Ive noticed graphical glitches that i can only describe as "out of synch" with the fps my computer is capable of producing. So the obvious solution to this is turn on vertical synch. With ut2k4 you can do this in the ini file and i bet you can change this setting on other games as well, but the easiest solution (So i thought) seemed to be changing it in the options for my video card (a 9800pro catalyst 4.3). Here is a screen shot

for direct 3d rendering, i have it set to always on, for opengl it's default on.

The glitches stopped and everything looks great, now the problem is mouse and keyboard lag when playing certain games. Does anyone else have this problem? is there any way to fix it?

In either your UT2004.ini or user.ini (forgot which), you can turn off triplebuffering. I know people use it with vsync because it helps with fps, but can also cause mouse lag, etc. Kind of a shot in the dark, but who knows:) .
