We have two servers a ML350G5 and DL380G5. The 350 has a e200 card and 380 has a p400 card. We want to go to Raid6 so we already know the e200 has to be replaced so should we just get a p400 or replace both cards as ESXi is picky about raid cards! :(
 
They all work. I have everything from g5 to a g8 no probs. Love HP servers. How many drives are you using. RAID 6 has no real benefits over 5 if using less then 6 drives.
 
8 Drives and our main reason for looking at Raid 6 over our current Raid 5 is the 2 possible failed drives over just one!
 
Okay so we will order a p400 for the older server but I see a "Optional 6 (ADG)" under the specs. So I assume I have to get the ADG software to unlock Raid 6 on both of these servers?
 
Just don't try to pass any HP cards through to a guest, it's not supported. Not that it matters with G5s though.
