I finally managed to score some registered ram for my dedicated gaming server for lans. It's a dual pIII 800 (for now) on an intel STL2 board. I've had many many problems finding a suitable voltage regulator module for the 2nd cpu. Right now I have a vrm 8.3 I bought off ebay, the seller claimed it worked with pIII's in HP Netservers and Dell Precision 220's (which has a pIII 866 I believe) and "many other" pIII/pII systems on 100/133 buses. Anyway, I can get the board the work now with one cpu and a terminator, though I can't get it to run with both cpus in and the vrm. I know both cpus are good because I can switch them out with eachother and the board boots up perfect. The back of the vrm says "2.5v Adj" and the pdf manual that I downloaded for vrm 8.3 says it is indeed adjustable from 1.3v to 3.5v Core Voltages by using 10k resistors in different combinations on 4 pins of the module. As this is my first experience with a dual cpu setup, is it normal to have to adjust the voltage output of vrms or should they be basically plug and play? The only reason why I bought this vrm instead of the right one is because I cannot find a vrm that came with the original board, I've only seen them sold with the board as a combo(I happened to come across this board for about 10 bucks, the combo is ~$75). Any information would be great.
