I really haven't had any problems with this card until maybe 2 weeks ago. I was playing WoW (bet you are tired of hearing about that game) and all of the sudden the meshes/textures started tearing and messing up (artifacting i guess?). I would get 3 vpu recovery warnings from the ATI control panel, then after then 3rd time i would have to restart to use applications again. I uninstalled/resinstalled drivers and opened up my case to make sure everthing was dust free (fan mostly) and reconnected everything. seemed to work.

Lately the same exact thing has been happening.

This leads me to believe that my card is overheating, but I can't be sure.

Any pointings in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Quick way to find out is too get more air into the machine and see if the errors reoccur. Open up the case and point a desktop fan into the case if the errors go away find another cooling solution for the card.

case's side is off, and all fans are active. was just playing cnc generals and it was still artifacting, so its not a game-specific problem either.

turned agp to 4x in bios and turned off fastwrite. still having the problem.

It's worth it to do a clean install of the drivers (Guide). What card do you have anyway? Did you overclock it? Sounds to me like its screwed, so RMA that if you didnt void anything.

wow, i posted a problem on [H]ardforums and and didn't even list the actual card I'm having a problem with. o_O

ati radeon 9800pro 128mb, no overclocking

man looking back on this, even after building multiple computers and 1 for myself, I bought this card at best buy. can you say impulse? they were out of gt oc's :/

anyway, I seriously doubt i can return it.

i'll follow the guide tomorrow and get back to you.

thanks.

followed the intructions for wiping out the remnants of the drivers.

still getting the game problem. textures start glitching, then its over.

Yah, the card is screwed, ask for a refund, how old is it? Bestbuy is pretty good on that, but still, man, use online retailers :p
