VPU crashes

my VPU start crashing constantly. I have the latest drivers installed from ATi.
Should I go back ot the old ones? Or whats the problem here? Any suggestions?

It's crashing on game like Empire Earth 2, WoW, Jedi Academy, but it hasn't crashed in HL2.

make sure fast writes are off in BIOS, and you are not overheating.

i had this very same problem.
i tried everything and could not fix it, and eventually sold it and bought a 6800GT.

Try old drivers, then try new drivers again. It also could have something to do with direct3d and opengl, just by your description on what games work and what dont...
 
use driver cleaner to wipe out all of lame junkie files left off from uninstaller then reinstall brand new drivers for ur video card.

make sure the fast write is off (all the times). if ur heatsink feels so hot then replace it to new heatsink like zalman VF700-cu or ac ati silencer.
 
OK I did all that fun stuff mentioned, (but not the new heatsink for the VPU) and to no avail after throughly testing (fun but annoying) same problem occurs. Although, no problems occur when playing Rise of Nations either.


Any other suggestions?
Is there a program that will give me the temps for the VPU? because that is the only thing I haven't really looked into.
Also I didn't get to mess with the OpenGL or direct 3D settings. Anything in particular in them I should be changing?

I got a 450W Thermaltake PSU, it was working fine for about a year, now its blah.... :( :( :(
