I VPN into NT4 box 1 using MS PPTP. Once the VPN is up I use VNC to connect to an XP box. Once on the XP box I VPN into NT4 box 2 using MS PPTP. It goes as far as “Verifying Username and Password” but fails to authenticate with error 721. I have rebooted both NT servers and the XP workstation. I can VPN directly to NT4 box 2. Other workstations on the same network as NT4 box 1 can NOT VPN into NT4 box 2. I can VPN into a Linksys RV042 VPN router from the XP box using PPTP.
This worked perfect up until Monday around 6:00 pm. I admin all the boxes and there have been no workstation, server or network changes. The only "event" that has happened recently is the AT&T DSL outage they had yesterday but that still doesn't explain why I can VPN into the Linksys box and not the NT box.
I am stumped and it isn't often that I am stuped
UPDATE: Ok, so I am on the XP box that can't connect to NT4 Box 2 via the VPN. I fire up the VPN to the Linksys box, it connects just fine. Then I fire up the VPN connection for NT4 box 2 on the XP box and it connects! WTH is going on here?
