Does anyone offer free or economical VPN software to remote into a corporate LAN?
 
I have a friend trying to remote into a Windows 2003 server machine and is concerned about security.

When you say use the built in Windows one, are you reffering to Remote Desktop feature through port 3389?

No.

Windows has built in vpn client that should be able to connect to the 2003 server. Check the help files.
 
Hey guys,

I am currently also looking for a VPN solution for my company. As the one we have now was set up by the Network Admin i replaced, and has nothing but problems with clients connecting to it. (ISA 2000 VPN/Firewall) i can't excatly rebuild the machine because it is our active firewall.

Now my question is.

A) is there a site or info that someone has that can aid me in fixing a ISA vpn, other then www.isaserver.org.

OR

B)With Open VPN would you recommend i run it on a MS platform or a Linux Distro?

Any help would be appreicated

What kind of problems are you having with ISA and VPNs?
 
Well it's hard to diagnose because i'm new (just hired) to this network. But the problem basically is haveing my clients connect to our ISA server. I ran the wizard to allow clients to connect. When i try to set my clients up. They don't want to connect.

More in depth now. I have no idea what the guy before me set up. The problem is deeper though. Because the type of company we are(finical investment managment) has streaming data from the stock market comeing and going. We use specfic software as well that has all kind of speical ports open different security measures have to be taken with it and my thoughts are that he could of botched the install. My thoughts are that it could be some filtering policy or something weird. But then again why would that effect anything with the VPN??

Trying to figure out if it's a lost cause to try to fix or just go with openVPN
