VP930b vs VP191b ?

Has anybody seen any reviews comparing these two LCDs? Ive been waiting for the VP191b but it seems they are not going to come back into stock. :(
 
930b is the same as the 191b except the contrast ratio on the 930b is 1000:1 where the 191b is 800:1. From what I have seen its a same in all other aspects. Also the 930b has a four legged base.

Not true. The VP930b is definately not the same monitor. The new 930 uses an 8-bit MVA panel, whereas the 191 uses a 6-bit TN panel. If the new 930 can truely maintain the low refresh that Viewsonic claims, it's a no-brainer to pick the 930 instead of the 191.

There are more than cosmetic differences. It has a different LCD panel that's supposed to be better. The thread Astral Abyss mentions was a good one. It made me look closer at the 2 monitors and I learned a lot more than I thought I knew. The 'VCP930 is the replacement for the VP191 but there are no reviews on it yet. We're all waiting for those! :)

No.

All VP191 use 8-bit VA panels, the VP930 is a small update to it.
 
When a manufacturer changes the panel they're using it's not a small update. Like everyone else, ViewSonic and Samsung have been known to lie now and then about their specs. The new panel might have a HUGE effect on performance. I want to see independent test results before calling the VP930 a success like the VP191 clearly was.

Here is a review that evaluates the Belinea 10 19 20 using the same panel as the VP930b. Although machines with the same panel can indeed have slight differences all the same, it should serve as a decent basic reference.

You may be right, but I think it's unlikely they've understated the improvements. That's not what I've come to expect from a manufacturer.
 
THe only issue I have seen crop up with the 930b is the backlighting. But havn't seen a real clear review that said if its that bad as some people are saying.
