Please, only people who have this monitor answer these questions:

  1. Does this monitor have any backlight bleeding?
  2. How are the contrast levels in gaming, such as Doom III and HL2?
  3. What do you think of the quality of th is monitor?
Thank you in advance!

1. No, not on mine anyway.
2. Took a bit of playing with but looks great. May have to set up a different profile for the game vs. desktop/web stuff.
3. So far I'm very happy, build quality is excellent. Came w/ 2 stuck pixels, one rubbed out easily and the other is in the bottom corner rarely visible. I've been comparing side by side with my old Viewsonic PS790 19" CRT and after finally getting the right settings its definitely better.

Just got mine today from Dell ($469 total). It's replacing my trusty old
Optiquest V95 which is a great 19" CRT monitor.

My monitor was made December 18 in the land of China, so it's the
newer one with the matte screen. This thing is really nice and I like the
integrated power supply. It comes with a DVI and an analog cable.

Anyways, with an all white screen I don't see any bad pixels.
With an all black screen I see one pixel that's stuck blue near the center.
It's so tiny you have to be within a few inches to even see it.
I see the backlighting people are talking about. Some at the top and at the bottom.
You can only see it when the screen is dark though.
The picture is so sharp and bright that's it's actually giving me a headache.
I use the DVI connection and bumped the refresh rate to 70hz. I set both the
brightness and contrast to 50%, but lighter colors are killing me.

I loaded Doom 3 and it looks great. No ghosting problems. Something is
different though. Not sure what but I'm going to look into this vsync thing
people talk about, as soon as I take some Advil.
It's going to take a while to get used to this LCD thing. It is really nice though.

ratfester did u mean that you compared it to your GS790 viewsonic? I've enjoyed mine since i've bought it but I just got a XFX 6600GT cause I might go dualie LCD's in the next year or so. My question is does the 1280x1024 res take away enough to make me want my 16x12 back on my CRT?

OK, just to add one thing.
I turned on the vsync (vertical sync) option in Doom 3.
I changed the resolution to 1280x1024 (up from 1024x768).
Finally, I dropped Doom 3's refresh rate I had set for my other monitor (75hz)
to match the 70hz of this monitor. I think I was having that tearing problem
everyone talks about.
Doom looks perfect. Colors are rich, no ghosting, razor sharp graphics.

Now that the Advil kicked in and I've had a few hours to play with this
thing, it's pretty damn impressive.

No, it was a PS790, short depth CRT. I always ran it at 1152x864 because that was the highest res that would still run at 100hz refresh rate. Gotta say the more I use it the more I like it though.
