Looking to get my first LCD and am just not sure which one to get? Only thing that has me debating on whether or not to order the VP201 right now is the difference in price compared to the dell.
Anyone offer any insight as to the difference in prices? Id like to think of the ViewSonic as a better build/quality but not sure. Thx

I guess what I'm looking for, more than anything, is if anyone can recommend one monitor over the other.

I had the vp201s and the 2001fp sitting side by side. I think the screen on the vp201s is a bit cleaner and the backlight is a bit more uniform. As far a build quality goes the vp201s a bit better as it does not require a power block (unlike the 2001fp). Also I would say the stand on the vp201s was built quite a bit better. The OSD on the viewsonic was also a bit better at detecting inputs and adjusting to resolution changes. The vp201s supports HD resolutions but has no inputs for them. Where as the 2001fp does not support hd resolutions but it does have svideo input which is pretty slick w/ PIP. Originally I picked the vp201s up to see how it ran with bf1942 as I was planning on getting two dell 2001fp's. Had the viewsonic monitor been $800 instead of the $1400 I paid I probably would have picked up two of them instead of the 2001fp's. I have seen 3 2001fp only one had 1 dead pixel, both of the other ones were perfect.
Overall I would say if you can pick up one of the 2001fp's during a dell sale I would do it. If not pick up the viewsonic and you will be happy, But your wallet wont..

Right now the Dell with the sale is $900 ($1000 regular price)in the Home & Home Office catagory. The Viewsonic VP201 is at $1070 at ComputerHQ.com.

I had a Viewsonic VX900 but sold it recently so I could get a LCD that could display 1600x1200. 1280x1024 just wasn't enough space and really didn't want two monitors and also wanted a faster refresh rate of 16ms.

Anyhow the VX900 from Viewsonic had no screen door effect so can't say I could go with the Dell. Since I'm spedning near a GRAND on a display what does a little more hurt?

But true two for $750 on sale may sway me on Dell but prices will change and drop I'm sure so make your 1st count, I say!

Also I've read some mixed reviews on the Samsung 213T and decided to not get another 25 ms LCD. The ghosting does get annoying. Just moving the mouse cursor alone seemed like time was slowing down on my computer.

I hope to make my purchase this week and cannot wait. I'm using a old CRT and it's killing my eyes! ARGH

cheers.
