Sorry to tell ya man, a game is only dead when people stop playing it and a company stops supporting it. Another dinosaur that is still getting lots of play is StarCraft. You cant compare CS to a car, a car is a necessity, CS is entertainment. Also, good graphics do not a good game make. Look at the last Tomb Raider, the graphics are beautiful, but the game sucks. It doesnt really matter I guess. It really isnt necessary to defend it. The number of running servers and the number of players filling them handily defeat your conclusions.

There is no such thing as a "real" gamer. Try matching yourself to one of those Korean professional players. To them, you probably arent a "real gamer". Those guys are hardcore and their kids are running around in Starcraft shoes!
 
SC imo opinion is a PERFECT GAME. Granted it took years for it to get as good as it is but it is probally tho most balanced online game there is.

UT 2004 Onslaught imo is a much better game than cs. If you don't think so then you a have a problem.

I don't consider "rush b" or "go tunnel" to be strategy...
 
lol cs is not dead like ive already said before and i think people still love the game because it is so simple, not a pc dependant game, unless your one of those freaks that will spend 3000 to have 100 fps constant, and fairly easy to learn. I played counter-strike for about 2.3 years of my life and the times i had with my real life friends were a great experience and gave me thrills when i didnt bitch and was doing good. I never competed in calmain but surely had the skill just didnt stay really active enough or didnt care enough about it to tryout 10 times to join a clan. This game will remain the best online mp to ME for a while until proven wrong, although many may think different. Of course its not great graphics and all like FarCry and all the new games but if you played as much as me and many other people then maybe you'd realize. :rolleyes:

We'd realize what? Many of us HAVE played as much as you. Your not the only one that has speant many-a-Lan playing CS, or spent many hours online. We just think that CS has run it's course. Your not the only one who has played for many years. :rolleyes:
 
thats not what i meant, i meant for the half ass judgments people made when they havent even experienced the thrill of the game, although i dont play 1.6 or any of that shit but whatever
 
If you discount cheaters, CS seems like a much less populated game...

Just because -you've- worn yourself out on it doesn't mean that new people can't discover the game and play it. I'll admit it was fun as hell when it lasted, but now that there's not really any sense of camaraderie and it's just mindless child's play with a bunch of 15 year olds, I don't dig it. This doesn't mean you have to be 15 to enjoy it either, to everybody who keeps trying to bash CS because they decided they didn't like it for some reason or another.

Something so many nerds have problems realizing is that you don't have to like something because of it's good; and on the same token, you don't have to dislike something because it's bad. So just shut up and keep your fucking opinions to yourself, the chances of you convincing anybody else that you're right and they're wrong are very slim.
 
there are so many ppl that like CS because so many people havnt and cant play the new games that are out due to their POS systems.

i'll agree with that. it seems a fruitless arument. same one thats made time after time. 'no one plays that game anymore'. who cares who plays it. if the argument is over who wins a poll that has no real purpose other than simple amusement, then fine. but arguing over if a game is still played is pointless. it obviously is. people like it. ask people to be logical and you ask for too much. so don't try and bring reason into it, not everyone is as smart as the a single nerd is in regard to his impeckable taste in games. just accept the fact that people like different types of games. viva la differance and all that. probably spelled that wrong, but whatever.
 
I guess you have valid points, the fact of the matter is, CS is done. If people want to play it go right ahead. I can't think of the last time I joined a server and there wasn't atleast 3 cheaters.

I used to play for a CAL-IM clan and that was the most fun I've ever had gaming, ever. But when the clan died and I went back to public servers, I almost cried. Its a shame that a game that 'was' so good, has been corrupted by hackers. Not only is it a shame, but they should all be shot in the face! lol. I was at a LAN like 6 months ago and saw this hacker get his ass kicked by like 5 dudes .. I just stood there and enjoyed it :)

UT2K4 has taken a great step by actually 'removing online playing capabilities' of hackers. To my knowledge they track CD Keys of hackers and just ban them from online play. Hacking/cheating will always be a cat and mouse game, but how can anyone argue the fact that hacking is in anyway acceptable ? it ruins games ... if you agree, then CS is ruined.. Please don't comment that there 'are' PUBLIC servers w/o hackers, cuz thats the biggest joke of all time..

Also, opinions are what make you unique ... why have forums if we cannot express our opinions ? Welcome to America.

My beef is with the people who think because we don't like it anymore, are for some reason or another, not "experienced" or haven't "played it enough".

I don't care if someone thinks it's the best thing ever or not, but when people discount my opinion because they believe that I don't "understand" what it's about, that is what upsets me.

It's not that the detractors of the game are less experienced or are less intelligent about strategy, it's that we don't find the CS style attractive anymore.

I agree that AT IT'S TIME, CS was a great idea that was implemented almost flawlessly. But I believe that Cs has run it's course, and if people would give new games and mods a chance, they could be great also.

EXAMPLE: My good friend Mike brought his brother Mark to my LAN once. Mark was 15. Mark is a BAD ASS CS plaer and can whoop all of us. But when all of us decided to play another game, he whined and bitched and demanded we continue to play CS. He gave in and played some other games with us and sucked at it, and complained because he didn't like the controls etc. He refused to learn how to play the new games.

This is the attitude that bugs me.

Before the steam was roled out there was 100,000 players at any given time. 10x more than the next muiltiplayer fps, bf. Yea the game is old but gameplay > *. Ever play organized cs? Most people that say cs sucks never played in upper level tournys. I stopped playing due to school.
 
Counter strike owns i doubt it will die within the next 5 years.... anyways you dont have to be loyal to anyone single game i mean i play CS mostly UT2K4 sometimes COD sometimes HALO sometimes but you cant bash CS for nothing. it is the most played online game for 4 years now hands down. i mean i cannot play UT longer than one hour without being bored where as i can PUG/ SCRIM on cs for countless hours. CS is a game that demands perfection and some people like the others dont i mean in UT you dont see a *findscrim with 800+ people contantly advertising a scrim do you? you can develop skills and not just RUN people over ( no brain cells processing ) with the manta. why does CPL have main game CS and no UT ? i dont really think it has the potential to live up to counter-strike. cs is great and the only things i would change about it is the sounds / texturing not the engine.
 
Most played FPS maybe, but we really don't have a good way of judging it. There's no standardized lists measurements or records that you can really directly compare most games with.

BTW Half Life and UT are in a dead heat in the Gamespy Title fight now.

it really is.. you see yourself develop AWP/AK skills over time you just dont see that in any ohter games. practicing strats there are no arm movements like when you are standing still . its a TEAM game. no other game like it....

I'm a moron ? lol. Again a 15 yr who plays CS. Listen I played the game for quite a long time and enjoyed it. But anytime someone says CS is dying, its like letting kindergarden out for the summer. All the little retarded children run their mouths.

My only point was ... CS IS RUINED AND DONE. I firmly believe that the only players that don't hack anymore are CAL and UGS clan players. I know this because I started playing CS on Beta 3 at the beginning and watched it grow to what a joke it is now a days. Public servers are a joke, your mental capacity, a joke. If you want to continue to play, great do so. But please for the love of God, next time you want to say something ... don't. Its embarassing to the human race.

The clancey games SUCK. i have them and i would rather use them as a cather for my lava lamp then rusting away behind my desk. the engine is FLAWLESS the gameplay is FLAWLESS the teamwork can be FLAWELESS. Cs is for the 1337. Cs for life.
