I was going to buy a vostro and was wondering. I already have a C2D mobile cpu here (T5450) 1.6ghz and 800mhz fsb. The list of cpu's that i can get for this system includes models with 800 mhz fsb here is the list

Intel® Celeron M® M540 (1.86GHz, 1M L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB) [Included in Price]
Intel® Celeron M® M550 (2.0GHz, 1M L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB) [add $25]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5270 (1.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) [add $70]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5470 (1.6GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) [add $130]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) [add $200]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9500 (2.6GHz/800Mhz FSB/6MB cache) [add $750]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 (2.5GHz/800Mhz FSB/6MB cache) [add $500]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) [add $350]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8100 (2.1GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) [add $250]

Question is, if I can order it with any of these cpu's will it run a T5450? 1.6 ghz 800 mhz fsb if I order the system with a Celeron chip from Dell so I can swap out to the C2D I have and save some $?

How hard is it to change the cpu on a vostro? I just did it on my gateway but this is a different notebook.

Thanks

I just skimmed through my Vostro 1500 guide and it shows you how to replace just about everything BUT the cpu.

I'm still waiting for someone to donate me a T9500 to replace the T7100 in my Vostro ;)
