anyone know what it is? cause i have a g4 mx420 and i got 1800... used the 3dmark2001
and was wonder which card would be better for cs
 
CS on a MX420? ...... that's just painful, I feel sorry for you :(

My guess would be the MX though over the Voodoo... but I personally wouldn't even bother with that. You need to hit up Ebay for a Ti4200 or higher.

i have had both and the GF4 MX440 64MB is 2x faster then a Voodoo5 5500

the MX also has Hardware TnL V5 doesnt
 
The non source CS will run fine on anything released since practically the voodoo3/tnt2
 
I had a P3 667 Mhz + Radeon 32 MB PCI that barely hit 30 FPS ever in CS 1.0-1.5
 
should i overclock it? if so.. what program should i use? where can i dl it?
 
Overclocking a Ti4200 or MX420? Sure you can using Rivatuner. Don't think it'll get you much performance though.
 
ohh iight thanks, on a mx420 do you know how to take off the heatsink? i don't get how to take it off. i can take off the mx440 heatsink but i can't take off the heatsink on the mx420.
 
If I remember the 420's were bonded with thermal adhesive. Im not sure how strong that stuff is but usually when you take off the heatsink the chip may come with it at the same time. Best bet though would be to hit ebay like someone else said and get a ti4200, they should be way cheap.
 
iwas planning to put some thermal paste on the core since i have extra left.

"Push pins"? I personally use pliers to close them, then just push them through.

Sometimes though when reinstalled I've had a few not grip tightly enough and needed to be replaced.
