I picked up this voodoo, 5500 I think. I wanted to mount some decent cooling on it to protect my gem, any ideas, the heatsinks look weak and it has diagnol paired mounting holes. All ideas welcome.

Because its a voodoo, nice antique, and it fits perfectly with my dualie p3 board, how about that, two dualies in one box, my first dualies too. =)

Right on, come on 18 bucks for the mobo and voodoo at a flea market, what more you want?

No idea, Tyan Tiger 230, I just found it's missing a capacitor, can i solder one on or do I even need it? I am pissed.

Do you have tulatines or whatever they are called, I am willing to buy the pair if you got them.

nope, i just know that 1.4ghz tualtins were the fastest p3's ever made and they were faster than 2.0ghz northwood p4's so two of them should be awesome

I have 2 1.3's. One is on my Asus TUSL2 and the other is waiting for another board. I need them for retro systems to play older games my 6800GT doesn't like - Crimson Skies, Die By the Sword, Midtown Madness 1 and 2 etc. I'll be using SLI'd Voodoo 2's.

You could look for an aftermarket cooler form Zalman or Vantec, then mod it to fit, or just use thermal glue to permanately attach them. They don't really need excessive cooling. Back when I had one, one of my fans died and the heatsink kept it cool. I never did replace the fan. A company called Tenmax/TennMaxx (something like that) made coolers for 3dfx cards.

how bout this

make your own :)

actually, since you have mounting holes, you could put one on top, then make 2 plexiglass cylinders and stick them through the holes and make one on the bottom.

But with fans all blowing towards the video card, all that hot air might get trapped? So then mount a cooling fan to hang perpindicular (orthogonal for you math freaks ;)), and take out a bracket from the back of the pc. Have that fan on super high and let it blow all the air out of the case :)

Of course, you need to have a lot of extra power connectors

I'm probably going to make one of these badboys for my one week of summer break. I have leftover plexiglass sitting in my house. Then it's off to another semester of college :)

The heatsinks should have had Avvid fans mounted to the, they are of very high quailty and more then enough for the VSA-100 chips.

The limiting overclocking factor on the 5500's is the ram not the chip cooling. The original spec for those VSA-100 chips was 183 mhz+ operation.

All the voodoo's ran fine with simple air blowing on them. I had the Card cooler *two 80mm fans blowing directly ont he card*or a combo of card cooler and slot blower (like antec cyclone that you can find in any store)

Also...looks like it's missing fans on the card directly.

Yeah, I just hoped this card wasn't tampered with (OC) or burnt up without working fans. That would ruin me.

The circle patterns of dust on the heatsinks are a dead giveaway that it had fans once...

Right but if the flea market took them off to sell them seperate I don't care. I just hope it didn't run without them.
