I have this old socket 7 k6-2 500mhz and about 3 voodoo 2's lying around and i was thinking, why not set up an old school voodoo sli rig to mess with... I just need to know how :)

I'm guessing win98 would be the best OS to go with, since drivers for XP are kinda spotty, but what about an "sli cable" or something...

I've never done an sli setup and pretty much need a step by step kinda explanation...
 
Its a very small cable, looks sorta like an IDE cable. The connections on the cards are obvious, they are on the side. You also need a passthru cable, that connects the cards on the outside, from the VGA connections. If you do not have these parts, its not going to work.
 
ok so what if i have those parts... then what? do i need to install special drivers or what?

a link to a guide or something would be helpful if anyone knows one

also, i have the pass through but not the link cable that connects the two cards inside the case, there has to be a way to make one, or buy one from somewhere...
 
I think you can modify a floppy cable to do it. Do a google search and see if you can find something. I'd do it, but i'm leaving right now. heh
 
I rocked that back in the day. Quake 1 and thief 1 ran badass and looked great! I dont recall there being an internal IDE style cable between the two cards....just the external connector. I could very easily be wrong tho...that was a looooooong time ago
 
damn I still remember my p2 333 and voodoo2 SLI setup... The picture is correct. You need the SLI cable between the cards and then the passthrough cable. If you really can't find any drivers my old site might have something... http://members.tripod.com/~devnull_/

they seem to work for me, are you using IE?

Anyways it should have a few sets of drivers, I can't remember how recent or how good they are but they should work. I never tested the win2k drivers so I wouldn't recommend using those. When I posted those the OS itself was still in beta.

yea it only seems to work in IE. I couldnt get it to work in FF.

Yeah, you can just mod a floppy cable to work with it, but it's a MAJOR pain in the ass. I had make one at one time when I misplaced the factory one. One thing to watch out for, you need to make sure the cable is no longer than 3-4 inches. The longer cable, the more out of sync the interleave and your image quality will suffer.
