Voodoo 2 Discussion EXPERTS WANTED

I was looking at voodoo 2s on ebay. I was wondering, is it possible to connect a voodoo2 to my 9600xt and use a 2nd voodoo2 boosting the first ones performance, which in my impression, boosts my 9600xt performance, in classic 3dfx style. Is this possible and will i actually get a boost?
 
Can't I pump the power into my 9600xt with that external vga cable?
 
No, there is also a requirement of communication between the cards to pull off any sort of SLI...

Even then, a voodoo2 will not show any boost at all if it even worked
 
if you successfully make the voodoo2 render all 3d, you're wasting the capacity of the 9600xt

the 9600xt is a far superior video card compared to a single or SLI voodoo2.

and no, it is not possible to "add" the raw processing power of your 9600xt and voodoo2 together to produce greater performance. choose one or the other for your 3d. i'd go 9600xt
 
Great response times btw here. What about these 4 gpu voodoos, sometimes even 6 on ebay
requiring external power sources etc. Do they have any compartive performance by today's standards? Could I play CS:S with one?

Wing Commander 1, 2 and 3 has been recompiled to run under Windows ;)
Look for "Wing Commander - The Kilrahthi Saga"

Actually I was looking to play a certain game called Diehard with them. Its where you want to get old school hardware and show it off at lans, really fun game.
 
Voodoo cards are useless for modern games. You could have 50 of them super duper SLIed and your framerate and image quality would still suck.

i was thinking of the last on that came out "Wing Commander Prophecy"
that was one of the best space sims ever id kill for a new Wing Commander game with good multi player

not realy it was run in software mode and later there was a DX patch i have TRYED to run it but it wont run DX8 and newer dont play well with DX5 and 6 stuff
and i just looked better in GLIDE
 
This thread reminds me of back when a guy posted a link to the 3dmark site showig some boon who slapped in a 9700 onto their old p2 400mhz rig, 64mb of ram to go with that as well lol. that was a good laugh.

I have a bench of a Ti4600 in a K6-2 400Mhz in 3Dmark 01....some 1600 points *L*
Can dig out an URL if you want me too?
