volume decrease by itself O__O help!

my co-worker told me her computer volume since last week would randomly decrease by itself to zero. well i have NO idea what to do other than telling her to update her device driver for her on board sound card.

her asked me what is causing it and the only logical explanation i can think of is that her house is hunted.

please help! lol
 
Sometimes when I plug in a USB device in Win7 my volume control will plummet to almost near zero. Opening the volume mixer and clicking on one of the volume sliders will restore it to its previous state. The volume mixer will actually show two sliders on one of the volume bars, with one of them grayed/transparent at the original volume and the other at the lower volume. Not sure what the underlying cause is... Windows has settings to reduce the volume automatically when an incoming voice call comes in... might be a bug with that. Look into disabling that via the control panel and see if it helps maybe?
