how worried should i be about overvolting my LGA775 3.0 on a abit AS8 mobo..

i've heard stories about bumping up presshot voltages even an little and frying the chip..

it currently runs at 1.38v and to get a stable overclock i think i need to bump this up..
 
I've run my 3.4 all the way up to 1.66 bios (1.55 actual) for months. Seems fine to me.You better have some good cooling though. My CPU idles at 34 stock speed, and 46 overclocked to 4 GHz with 1.55 volts. It can hit 55 easily under heavy load. That's with a fairly decent dual 120mm Rad, Liang D4, RBX, 1/2 inch water cooling system.
 
I've been running my Deleron 2.66 (stock 1.285v) at 1.45v without incedent for about 3 weeks now on stock LGA HSF w/ AS5... My CPU temps only went up a few degrees from stock...

I wouldn't worry about a +.2 delta on the vcore.
 
Mine is S478 2.8E @1.525V 255FSB, been running almost a year (last Feb.).
Air cool 100% idle 38-42C load 51-55C.
 
i used to have that motherboard and cpu combo... granted there were stability issues with the combo i had, but i bosted voltage to 1.4325 constantly and it solved my stability issues and ran stable till i sold it...
 
thanks for the info guys.. i guess i'll relax a bit and give it some more juice. it is water cooled so i'm not worried about that aspect of it
