Volcano 9 or 10?

Both of them on their high settings sound like my car without an exaust system. Why not go for something quieter?

If you have to get one of those two, go for the Volcano 10.

May I suggest the Thermalright SLK 900 paired up with a YS-Tech TMD fan?

If you have you heart seat on a Volcano, I would go for the 10 because of all the copper. Like Gamer though, I think the SLK-900 paired with a good 80-92mm fan would be a better investment.

If you wanna stay in the price range of the Vol 9/10 but get more efficient cooling (read: not sounding like a scramjet) why not give the Tt Silent boost a try. I've been very happy with mine - and it definatly gets the job done keeping my CPU cool...

volcano 9 is a loud piece of crap.

Thermaltake tr2-m2 is an awesome cooler and can be had for around 10 bucks. kept my 2200+ under 100F easy, and it is silent even at full speed.

Another question about loud fans, I need a new blow hole fan, mine presently is just not pushing much air at all, I see the tornado pushing 119 CFM but with over 56 dBa, i haven't taken physics in a while, can anyone convert this to say, someone talking, a car horn, etc... i don't mind noise that much, but if it's that loud it would be a bother, also, could anyone reccomend any other good blowhole fan that pushes a lot of air.

Ok a Tornado is really loud. It is definitely not for the faint fo heart, and it probably sounds closest to a blow dryer inside your computer. A very large blow dryer, I would definitely not recomend this fan for a blow whole, especially if you are going to be blowing air through a grill. I would get yourself a 120 to 80mm adapter and use a nice 120mm fan that pushes lots of air with relatively small amount of noise.

Which would be better for my CPU (my CPU is below)

I had a Volcano 11, and if it is anything like the 10 I wouldnt recommend it. It cools just fine, but if you want to overclock the fan at high speed is very loud, and the HS does not perform very well. Get yourself a SLK 900 it works wonderfully on my system even with a really crappy fan!

Why cut an 80mm hole for a 120mm fan? Like my dad always said: If some is good, and more is better - then too damn much might be just enough! Cut a 120mm hole for your 120 mm fan...

All I'm saying is that the Silent boost performs within 5% of the SLK's with the same fan, it comes with a nice Panaflo L1A, and it's still cheaper than an SLK bare w/o fan.
