Here's the deal. I am trying to use Ultra VNC to remotely connect to a computer on the same network that is running surveillance camera's. I am on a 448k network connection. I can currently view the desktop of the host comp but it is very laggy, and when I try to run the camera software remotely the computer locks up. Is this a VNC issue or what???

If the camera software is using directx filters to display the camera realtime, chances are you won't be able to use a remote access software to manipulate it.
 
forgot to ask you tonite... when you are on the machine itself will the camera stuff work fine??

Also maybe trying real VNC for the fun of it... when the guy above me said something about video stuff it made me think... when you install Ultra VNC it installs some extra video driver thing... try realVNC to humor me! :D

Thanks guys I will try real VNC though I am not sure that it will make a difference.
 
don't think it will either but, hey if you are desperate you will try lots of crazy things.... also when you uninstall UltraVNC not sure if it romoves the vid driver or not... it's under display adapters in control panel..... just as if there were 2 display adapters installed.... I would remove that driver when you uninstall UltraVNC if it doesn't remove it itself....

I hav never had luck with video on VNC. shur you can refresh the screen but I never got streeming video to work.
If the pc with the camaras attatched has software to monitor them then I would look to that for remote survalence.
