I'm planning a View deployment using an EMC VNX and NFS. I'm new to using NFS with VMware so I'm curious about backup solutions. In our VMware server environment (FC), we just use Backup Exec w/VMware license - works great. How do you do backups for your View environments?
I'm aware there are some caveats. Linked clones seem to make life difficult as far as backups are concerned. %appdata% and %userprofile% and mapped home drives will be redirected via DFS to CIFS on the VNX. I'll need to back that up as well as master images, and any persistent desktops deemed necessary. I understand that the VNX has great snap capabilities, but I'm unclear on how to leverage that during backup to tape.
I'm quite comfortable with server virtualization, but desktops and NFS are a new ballgame for me.
