I am needing some advice. We are on ESXI 5.1.2, vcenter 5.1 , and view 5.1. we are planning to get moving forward and probably going to be going up to 6.0 soon. In which order do those need to be updated? Do they all have to be done at once or is there some backwards compatibility?

View, vCenter, ESXi normally. Double check the view 5.6/6.0 requirements though.

It would appear that 6.0 is not compatible with any of the older pieces of software. Would that mean that all of the updates would have to take place after hours and the environment would be down for the duration?

well crap...I was hoping to avoid that. thanks for the help IO, at least I have a direction to head and things to work through.
