Ok, I would like some advice from you fellow [h]'ers
I have never messed with vm's before and i just downloaded VMWARE Workstation. Im gonna mess around with it on my computer and i have a couple questions.
first of all, i have 6gb of ram, would that be sufficient to run a single vm alongside vista x64 (xp, and maybe another one for ubuntu). If so, how many vm's can be run with that ram and still have the machine not function any slower than now? I know the obv answer here is double the ram to 12gb, which will be in a couple months...
next question, i have an external hard drive that i would like to run a vm off of and install office 2007, ie. office 2007 portable. I would like to be able to run an xp vm off of the external hard drive without having to boot off of it, is this possible? (ie. plug into any computer, click an exe and the xp vm starts up in a window) could anyone direct me how to do this if it is?
Thanks alot for any help
