At work we have a IT Lab for us to test new tools, and stuff for our audits.
They have installed VMware Server2.0 and the VMware infrastructure client but for some reason we cannot get the client to connect to the server.

I can log into the server using the web UI and it works, but the client cannot connect.
I have tried the hostname, IP address, localhost, 127.0.0.1...nothing works.

Any suggestions?

Which client are you using? IIRC, the ESX/vC client doesn't talk to server, but I haven't used server in 3 years.
