Greetings,

(Apple/Mac newb here)

One of our people is trying to run a vm from VMware Fusion that they have been using for quite some time without problems. However, lately they had to get their mainboard replaced in their laptop, and since then the vm hasn't been working. When we try to open or launch the particular virtual machine, nothing happens. No error messages, no warnings, just nothing happens.

I don't know where to go find and see logs, because I want to know why nothing is happening when we try to open the virtual machine file with VMware Fusion.

There should be a bundle (.vmwarevm file) in whatever folder was designated for VMs. Right-click on the bundle and say "show package contents." In there, you should find some .log files. On the offchance that it's crashing due to some problem with the Fusion GUI, you will find the log for the GUI here: /Users/<username>/Library/Logs/VMware Fusion/vmware-vmfusion.log

Thanks CEpeep! We don't exactly know what or why this problem happened, but we logged in as the Mac Administrator and found VMware Fusion saying that the virtual machine was locked/in use, and then received a pop-up that we need to "Take Ownership" to start it. Did that, and started it just fine. o_O

Then we logged out, log back in as regular user, and was able to start it successfully.

Problem is gone. :D
