Heya Randy or Chris was just wondering about the Kentsfield processor. I read VM will be adding it to their builds. Are these processors going to be drop in with the current motherboards that your C2D systems are using? Or will you be using new motherboards all together?

Hi kurari - This is a question we are not allowed to answer yet due to our NDA with Intel, but if you looked thru the window of the quad-core demo system we have on display at IDF, it uses an updated version of the 975 chipset. Intel will have to be the source for more info on this until it is released. Sorry we have to be tight lipped, but that's the deal when working with the manufacturers.

Haha np Randy I understand. Yeah there is a lot of talk online about it being drop in and compatiable with C2D motherboards now. Just thought I could get a confirmation from a reliable source. Hey...can't blame a guy for trying :p can ya? Would be great if the rumors turn out to be true. It certainly would make for a easy, painless upgrade :D

Yeah, it sucks - we're the first to get it and the last to be able to talk about it. ;-)

lol, chris it must be torture having such a toy in your hands and not being able to talk about it...I mean just thinking about it...*drool*...I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut. haha. The kentsfield seems so promising...The only problem I can find is that it makes the cpu in the computer I ordered from you look obsolete in only a measly 2 months :( Oh well I better live in the moment for those 2months while I can :p Maybe oneday I'll have to take advantage of VM's lifetime upgrade plan.
