I have a MSI 7600GT which has VIVO support. Is it possible to utilize it to take composite outputs from console systems (Wii, GCN, PS..etc) and display them on PC?

In other words, is it possible to use VIVO to play consoles on PC?

Thanks for the help!

yes but the buffering on the VIVO gives a delay.... 1-2sec so paying consoles isnt good... get a DVI KVM and hook one side to the PC the other to the Console.. they make DVI cables for the PS3 and the xbox360 i think the wii has on also

Use Dscaler to view the video fed in through VIVO, there is a tiny delay before you see the picture, way less than 1/2 a second.
I use it to watch TV using my X1800XT for TV in (from a video recorder), the sound is piped directly to my amp. The delay is so small it causes no problems with lip sync.

Ignore the section saying you need a TV card, it works with the Direct Show drivers supplied by ATI and NVidia.

i checked out some dvi kvm...they are too expensive unfortunately =\

i wasn't able to find any dvi cables for wii floating around.. i guess it's still a fairly new system.

i used to use DScaler for watching TV with a WinFast TV tuner... I'll give it a try once I get the console. Half a sec delay might be still too long for fast paced games though.

The Wii does not support D-DVI. Analog DVI is theoretically possible, the question then is whether your monitor supports it (and most monitors do not support analog over DVI if I'm not mistaken; most video cards can send analog over DVI, but thats usually used with DVI->VGA adapters). With DScalar, you should have very minimal lag using VIVO. It should be good enough to play, though you still may find the lag to be too much. Some people are better at percieving this than others.

Your only other immediate option that comes to mind is a component to VGA transcoder, though they still seem relatively rare. They will allow you to convert 480p and better signals to VGA (will work on the vast majority of monitors). Depending on your monitor, you may or may not be able to do 480i (not a problem for the PS3/XBox360, though not all Wii games will support progressive scan, so some may be unplayable).

or for like $40 you could get a VGA Box that will give your monitor RCA inputs. for more money, and depending of the system, you could get a xbox 360 to VGA, or buy a component VGA box. depends on your needs.
