Does the VIVO software allow you to simultaneously record S-Video+LineIn from the soundcard?

Basically I am wondering if I can replace my TV tuner with a video card that has videoin. I don't need the tuner capabilities but I do need to record off the TV with sound. My cable box has an S-Video out as well as RCA audio outputs.

Either ATI or NVidia, it doesn't matter.

I just need to know if the bundled software has this capability, as well as scheduling recordings.

yes on the audio, no big deal. As for the scheduled recording, depends on the software. Most that don't come with a true tuner don't do schedules... at least the ones I've played with.

The software depends on the card. ATI AIW comes with ATI's software, most generic VIVO cards come with Intervideo's software or Cyberlink's Powerdirector Pro. I don't think Nvidia has their own software solution.

Almost all of the software is dependant on a sound card for input. I think the AIW has its own, but regular VIVO cards do not. Every program I've used has the capability to choose which audio input you want anyway.

Oh cool so there is generic software that works no matter which videocard you have? I was thinking the software would be proprietary OEM and ship with the card only.

I know the AIW cards have this software just like a regular tuner but yeah I would be using it for the VIVO only cards.

Most of the software works with any available video and audio input in Windows; USB cheapo, VIVO, webcam, etc...

Enjoy. :)

I haven't taken that route yet, I want my scheduled recording, but I only have composite or Svideo out from my DirecTv, so the tuner would be totally wasted in my case. That is just about the only reason I don't have an AIW.
The price premium is a bit too much for me when a good portion of it would be unused.

Gotta admit tho, if I weren't so strapped for cash, that 9600 Pro AIW would be in my TVbox...
