How can I cause texture corruption and magenta spots to appear on screen?

I using an OEM 9600 Pro.

1) Install a new cooler
2) Plug the fan in the wrong way
3) Turn the computer on
4) Turn it back off 4 seconds later when you see the fan not working
5) Tada! Partially damaged Radeon video card!

Works with 9500,9600,9700,9800 series cards.

well... you can pull the card and snip a few wires coming from the memory. you a sharp knife or a nail. that should give you a few artifacts, to say the least.

just take off the heatsink, or just scrape it up with a knife or something...

erg, you're all wrong.

Just overclock the card. find it's maximum and then go 5MHz above that and you'll see what artifacts look like pretty damn well.

I recommend ATITool. You can do it in 2 minutes easily.

ummm....doing this to validate your quest for a new vid card???

o/c the thing is the easiest way. I believe you're looking to oc the core for those artifacts...memory causes all kinds of blinking and crap...I suppose if it was flashing at the right frequency you could also induce a seisure...:p
