 I had office 2003 professional on windows xp pro.. Upgraded to Vista ultimate with the enterprise edition of office how come I can't import my *.pst file into outlook could someone tell me why?

does it give you an error message? we are going to need more info.

for all we know, your pst could be corrupted.

Check the PST file and see if it has become Read-Only. This causes Outlook to freak, and it will give you every error BUT the notification that the file is Read-Only :)

This usually happens after the PST is backed up to a CD, and then copied back to the Hard Drive.

BTW... You do not have to re-import. That takes to damned long on large PST files.

Just put the PST where you want, and open Outlook. If it asks you for the PST at that point, just point to it. If not, go to file/open/outlook data file.

You'll have instant access instead of having to go through an import.

The only time you really need to import is if your PST is of the old format that is limited to 2GB, and you want to start using the new version that stores 20GB. Then you do need to create a new, 20GB version PST file and import the old one.
