Question: If I have xp 32 bit installed and get vista ultimate upgrade dvd, is it possible to install the 64-bit version of vista or am i stuck with 32? is there any way to do it? reason i ask is I can get the upgrade dvd for 20 bucks but i want 64 bit. thanks

You could also follow the sticky to do a fresh install with the Upgrade version. This way, it doesn't matter what platform of XP was installed before.

that's what i would do, a fresh install. it's a new pc, so i'd just be putting xp on there for upgrade purposes anyways. 20 bucks for the upgrade disk so I figured what the heck, might as well try it. thx for the help and quick answers
