You may already know this, the short answer is in the second to last line.

I just spent the last 45 minutes trying to get vista to take these RAID drivers, now I don't have official vista raid drivers and out of everything I heard vista would take them from XP after it was installed not while it was installing. I thought this was stupid so I tried a setup diskette... nope, wouldn't work kept working at it nope nothing.

Finally after seeing there were no vista drivers for this device (Promise fastrack 378 Raid on a PC4800-E Delux)I threw the drivers on a USB key drive and tried to have setup load them from there. My thinking was if it saw the USB drive ok I could quickly make changes and point at different files. Nope didn't like it.

Finally while I was browsing I decided to select the winXP folder... vista says Ok I like this!

Looks like vista doesn't use the textsetup.oem system anymore and just looks for the drivers so point to the actual DRIVER folder!

After this it saw my raided device and now I'm installing.
