I couldn't find any up-to-date information on the problems I have involving vista and sound.
I#m running an Abit IP35 Pro and creative X-FI extreme gamer in Vista 64 bit. I've wiped the drivers clean and have the latest installed. I'm aware creative and vista haven't played well together in the past, is this still a current problem? Is there any fixes or workarounds? is it fixed in windows 7?
Problem 1: Sound stutters when I do most activities within windows (even when utilisation is minimal, ie; web browsing). However it seems to work fine (more often anyway) when I am running a game (fullscreen or windowed), even if said game is overtaxing the system.
Problem 2: Sound randomly (sometimes multiple times a day, sometimes once every 2-3 months) just stops working until I reboot. One time I had to uninstall and reinstall the driver.
- Harddrives are all healthy
- Neither problem happens doing the same activities in XP 32bit on the same drive.
