I've seen a lot of things in my day, but this one takes the cake.
First off, once vista logs me on, the desktop loads fine....but NO programs open at all, including control panel, explorer, etc. Clicking them does NOTHING.
Bigger problem...if I attempt to perform a RESTART or SHUTDOWN, vista simply logs off.
The only way I can properly turn off and boot the computer is to remove the battery. I truly hate doing this. I did it so I can try getting into Safe Mode. Safe Mode works fine, but again, same symptons as above. Very very weird.
This is a friends Dell XPS M1530 laptop and I'm left at this point with advising a total re-image with the recovery software.
