Vista RC2 - Windows DVD maker problems!

I hooked up my miniDV camcorder with Firewire. Windows Vista RC2 immediately recognized it.
I got a window asking whether I wanted to transfer the tape to HD or whether I wanted to transfer the file to HD and burn a DVD.

I thought 'Sweet!' Nice easy GUI. I was prompted to load a blank DVD and the system rewound the tape in the camcoprder and transferred the file as .avi to my hard drive.

At the point of creating the DVD, the app froze and crashed.

I have not been able to create a DVD at all from this .avi.

Has anyone got their DVDmaker to worK/

If not, what are you using instead?
 
No one has the same issue, or no one has tried to capture a movie from a camcorder to a DVD in Vista?
