Vista port 80 in use problem

I have googled this one and have been struggling with it for the past two weeks.

I bought an LG R500 notebook that came preloaded with Vista Home Premium. I need to use Autodesk Inventor 2008 on it. In order to install and use the Content Center Libraries it must run and pass the "ADMS System Check". In the system check everything passes except for "Checking for port 80 availability". It says "Another webserver may be using port 80." It tells you to run netstat -ano to find which process is using port 80. The problem is I'm not seeing port 80 being used at all.

Click here for the netstat report.

Apparently Skype can cause this problem however I haven't installed Skype. I think it is related to a Windows update or some other software I have installed because I reinstalled Vista and then installed Inventor with the Content Center Libraries and it worked fine. I thought I got it but then the next day when I went to run it the Content Center didn't work and the ADMS system check failed because of port 80 when I tried to reinstall. I think the only changes overnight were a bunch of Windows updates.

I don't know what to do now. Any suggestions? I can't go with Windows XP because I can't find all the drivers I need for XP.

Thanks

Yeah I've turned it off completely and it doesn't make a difference.

Yeah I looked at that but I don't have any HP software installed. I uninstalled almost everything today in case it is a similar interference but still no go.

Right now I'm installing Service Pack 1 for Vista. I'll see if that resolves it. If that doesn't work I'm going to install XP on another partition. I think I found all the drivers I need for XP. I have to admit, besides this issue I do like Vista but if it won't let me run what I need then I really have no choice but to use XP.

I solved the problem!

I gave up with XP and went back to trying to get it working on Vista. Turns out it was some kind of conflict with Eset's NOD32 antivirus. Funny thing is that NOD32 didn't affect it in XP. Also it was odd that disabling NOD32 and ending its processes didn't work either. I had to completely uninstall it. I'm running Avast instead now and it works just fine so far.

Thanks for this entry - I had the problem with Windows XP Pro SP2, ESET Smart Security (the new one with the firewall), and AutoCad Inventor Suite 2009. I uninstalled ESET. Yes, disabling it and/or killing processes in the process list didn't work. I then finished the Inventor install and reinstalled ESET Smart Security. That worked!!

Or instead of using the crappy free AV programs, you could use something much better like Kaspersky.

Threads a little old but I wanted to poitn out that ESET NOD32 is hardly in the "Crappy Free" catigory. It does indead have a cost and is widely held to be one of the better ones. Though they do seem to have thier fair share of conflicts.
