Doesn't 7 still need the dummy plugs for the GPU's?
what client?
Gpu = XP
Smp/Vmware=vista/7
Pretty much, above a certain number of GPUs, XP is superior and dummy plugs aren't necessary. If you'll be using a 64-bit OS, I think Win 7 is probably the best desktop MS OS. I have a system with two GPU clients and a -bigadv VM running in Win 7.I've had no troubles maintaining an SMP VM along with 2-3 GPUs on my Vista machine. How many GPUs are you running? I think Vista get's nasty if you are trying to fold on more than 5 GPUs. That's the only situation where XP really shines supreme as far as I know.
if you plan to run more then 2 GTX 295's or 9800GX's then windows xp is required.. if your not then go with windows 7.. driver recovery is a nice thing with vista/7 that xp doesnt have so if you have stability issues.. then its a wonderful battle with BSOD's in xp..
xp = no display port limits vista/7 have a 8 display port limit.. gtx 295/9800GX2 count as 3 display ports per card..
Vista is better than xp as u get better quality atleast :|
moreover xp is better in performance lil
but vista still
and win7
i still dont know even i should got with it or not read many topics related errors in win7
