I'm currently working on a network at a small non-profit organization. There are like 6 computers all networked using a Linksys WRT54G. All the other systems have XP home/pro. This is a brand new Dell Dimension E521 out of the box and it will not display all the other workgroup computers. I have the same workgroup, password sharing off, file sharing on, and have tried disabling the firewall (McAfee). All the other systems can see eachother (except for this one), but this one only displays itself, the shared printer, and the router. The vista box has an internet connection. Any ideas?

Make sure that you turn on network discovery and that you have the same workgroup configured.

I installed network magic and everything works fine between the computers... But this doesn't tell me why windows will not do the same. I may just reccomend to the administrator that we purchase and install network magic on all the systems. I have never had a problem networking with it and it beats the hell out of hours and hours of troubleshooting...

Try disabling IP6, and doublecheck that network discovery is off and the workgroup name is exactly the same, and they are different by default on vista vs xp

already tried disabling ip6 and double checked workgroup name and settings...
