Has anyone else had any issues with Vista and F@H getting work? I keep getting [04:44:00] - Error: Attempt #5 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
Error.

:( I can connect to the server, just can't get work.
 
the firewall is blocking you...i know there is a problem with IE7 too and there is a work around...but i dont know what it is.

Sorry can't help. I got a bad image of 64-bit version. I downloaded it again last night and will be trying today. Does sound like what roftranspo said. I had that problem with the system and I am testing IE7 on. When you configure FAH make sure that you say no to use Internet explorer settings.
 
Still no luck with X64. Haven't been able to create a disk from either of the 2 images (X64) I have downloaded from Microsoft. The X32 version did burn to disk, so I will be testing my laptop with it (have a spare HDD, W00t!). Too bad, I really wanted a 64bit version of Vista running on my laptop :)
 
Downloading the 64 Bit right now. I cant even get the 32 bit to install at all :/
 
Running 32bit on this comp, roommate installed 64bit on his last night, both working fine, cept he doesn't have any sound.

Just put folding on, tis working.

Edit: Didn't have to change any settings, it just worked.

Edit again: Looks like EM3 doesn't save your boxen when you close out of it, and fahmon can't download protein info. :(

I have copies of 32/64bit ... just haven't installed.
 
By the time it hits mainstream there might be a slight chance that I can actually get it to install :mad: (not EM3 but Vista)

Spent 11 hours on it yesterday. I have downloaded each ISO 4 times, burned about 30 DVDs (both 32 and 64) using 5 different programs and 3 different kinds of media even burning it at 1x (damn that took forever), Mounted the ISOs directly (both in XP64 and XP Pro) trying now to copy the files from the ISO to the hard drive and then instaling from there and then I give up.


BTW I must say that the new Gromacs suck horribly. Been crunching 2 of them on my X2 now for almost 24 hours and just barely over 25% of the way thru them....

What's the protein number on the Gromacs you are talking about?

Tough luck on the Vista....I think my x32 is good, but been doing other work at the moment.

I had a problem getting my DVD to boot. Turns out it was my Toshiba DVD rom. It would boot a CD fine so I thought at first it was my copy of Vista. I slapped a LiteON DVD in there and it booted and installed without a hitch. :cool:
 
I have no problem getting it to boot I keep getting the 80070241 error (which seems VERY common) no matter how I boot/iso/HD copy it. It seems to be at random spots as well..GUess I will have to burn the $6 and get MS to send me a DVD that they at least THINK will work.

And Protein: p2505_A21_agbnp_amber99 on both cores..I have the system set for F@H to do whatever it wants (take as much RAM/CPU/SSE etc as its little heart desires) and it STILL is running horribly.. Since my last post I have done 11 more checkpoints of the protein if that tells you how slow it is going
 
I had one 1258 atom 2505 that made one of my systems crawl, but my 3400+ @ 2.5 Ghz has typically taken just over 5 minutes for the P2505 proteins. Sounds like something wierd is happening.

You could always go to timeless for a while. That should be a solid 150-190PPD per core.
 
i concur the the 25xx series SUCK HARD...i think we have a thread here talking/bitching about that from when they first came out
