Hey guys, I've run into a weird issue with my displays in Vista Ultimate. When I shut off both my 22" KDS lcd and my 19" Princeton lcd, when I turn them both on again the KDS gives the "no signal" message and goes into it's low power mode. The other lcd is fine. The only way to get the picture back is to go to the display properties, change the resolution for the KDS and then change it back. Then the KDS turns back on. Both monitors are running off my x1950xtx via DVI cables. Keep in mind, in WinXP this problem didn't exist. So I personally think it's a Vista issue. But, do you guys think maybe it's a power management thing? I turned off all the power saving settings in the display settings. Plus this happens when the KDS is connected but the other lcd isn't.

Anyway, if anyone can give me some suggestions or knows why this is happening, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

No ideas? I tried the monitor on my roommate's computer (x1900gt, WinXP) and the power problem went away. I'm currently on hold w/ ati's tech support...maybe they'll know.

I had a display issue with Vista + ATI x1650 Pro drivers. I had to uninstall them and will call ATI on Monday. My single display, right after logging in, would immediately become very dim.

Yeah it's kind of hard to figure out what the problem is sometimes. I sold my X1950XTX and bought an 8800GTS and my monitor problems went away in Vista. I just installed WinXP x64 (going to dual boot w/ vista ultimate64 when it's delivered) and I'm having another issue. when Xp starts, sometimes my widescreen monitor doesn't come on and I have to do the same thing I did with the ATI card. As it is, with the 8800GTS and the nV control panel, you have to create a custom timing w/ the "DMT" option for it to show 1680 x 1050 without the blurriness.

But I don't get why the monitor doesn't get a signal on bootup. I"ll be sitting at the windows login screen and only my 19" is on.

Anybody have any ideas why? Is it something I can fix via drivers or the nvidia control panel?

I had issues with my two LCD's in Vista that didn't happen in XP :( with that being said, maybe try another way, uninstall UltraMon and try to play with the 7.2 ATi drivers and see if you can get it working.

Edit: Just noticed that you sold your X1950XTX, not sure why your LCD is not working correctly. Have you tried to switch the connections?

Yeah I tried all that when I was having problems w/ the ATI card and this display. Unfortunately, this problem happened before and after I installed ultramon. I did set up a profile in Ultramon that's supposed to load when I start the computer. So hopefully that helps. Didn't have this issue in XP 32bit or Vista 32bit. It's kind of random. At least once I'm in Windows and I do this little res toggle, things are okay..anyway, the only reason I even have xp installed is for one of my programming classes and for games until drivers start improving.

As for the cables, the one connected to this kds 22" is a belkin dual link dvi and the princeton 19" is the standard dvi cable. Switching them before didn't make a difference, but I guess it's worth a shot.

Sounds like some screwy Vista issue. Good luck and post back if you solve the issue.

Well no, this issue is in Windows XP x64. But from what I've read, it might be partly an issue w/ nVidia's current drivers. But, I did have problems w/ the ATI card (in Vista) so maybe the OS is partly to blame too. Or maybe it IS my monitor lol. But yeah, I'll try a few things and report back. Thanks for your input guys.
