Im using vista home prem x64 and I have it networked through another identical system to print. I can see the printer and connect to it and print. But when I shut down or reboot I try to print and I it says something along the lines of not being able to print. Althoug the printer is still there and shows connected and is the default. But if I just click to reconnect it, the printer works again no prob. I dont want to have to do this every day just to print.
Anyone know anything I can do?
 
I think I read something about that last night in Maxim PC. I'll look when I get home.
 
Endeavor: could you elaborate on that a little. Im assuming I have to replace a couple of those words with the computer name and maybe the printer port. but I dont know exactly what all that is.
Once I get that I will try it out for sure
 
Command prompt: NET USE PRINTERPORT \\COMPUTER\PRINTER /PERSISTENT:yes

where:

printerport is the port that your printer is currently using, may be for an example LPT1 or USB001

computer: your computer's name which you can see pressing windows + pause keys

printer: the name of your printer shown on the folder Printers on start menu

Substitute the names and the command should work then.

im obviously not doing something right here. I didnt understand if Im supposed to do this on the computer that the printer is accually hooked to. or the computer that im getting to the printer through the network. (the one losing printing ability after reboot)
also I must not be plugging the info in right.
so heres the info, maybe ya could plug it all in right for me?
networked computer name : CEO
port: usb001
printer: xerox workcentre pe220

the computer that the printer is physically plugged into is
name: frontdesk
port: usb001
printer: xerox workcentre pe220

both computers are password protected, but not on a domain, just a workplace
I can take off the passwords if that helps, I dont really need em anyways.

So if ya could litterally type up exactly what I need to put in that would be great
