Vista doesn't recognize mouse on boot

First of all I am using a Logitech VX Revolution. I am updated with the newest version of setpoint. Whenever I start vista and go into the setpoint mouse properties, it does not recognize my mouse is plugged in, so the tab that says My Mouse is not there. I have to unplug the mouse and plug it back in anytime i want to change any settings. Is there something I am missing here to make it automatically recognize its there so I don't have to unplug it everytime i want to change something?
 
Do you have lots of USB devices plugged in?

If you're plugging your mouse into a hub, or another USB device (like a keyboard) try plugging it directly into your computer insteead.
 
Souds Like a bad Mouse or USB port. You might try uninstalling USB controllers ad re installing them to eliminate that possiblilty.
 
I have had that problem intermittently and just switch USB ports and it recognizes the mouse. When it fails to recognize the mouse in that port, I switch back. Vista seems to not be able to hold onto drivers on multiple USB ports and installs the same drivers on the same ports when I plug in the same device....minor distraction :)
 
I was using a 2 foot usb extender cable (just one port) that came with something free so I unplugged it from that and put it in the back of the computer and now it recognized it when I started. But I also put it in a different port so I will find out if my problem is the same as Domos. I don't think it would be the cable since this does not happen in XP. Thanks for the help :)
 
Funny thing you mentioned extender cable...I use one also. I can't see why that would make a difference, but I guess it does...dunno.
