I installed a new SATA drive on an Nforce4, but the same problem will also occur with a 3rd party SATA controller slammed in to my SN25P:
During installation, and with every boot, the HD does not get detected. It says:
Verifying DMI Pool...
Disk Error
Press Key to continue
---------------------
Well, if I have the Vista install DVD in the drive, it will boot up, presumably the install CD picks up the HD at the very beginning. If the DVD is not in the drive, I cannot boot.
What happened? And how can I fix it?
Thanks.
PS: This happens upon every attempt to install, but XP + Linux would not do anything similar. This is not a multi-boot install, and all latest drivers are installed.
