Its not up quite yet, but the word on the street is Microsoft will release their public version sometime today, free for anyone to download.

check out the Vista website for more info.

Is it going to be the same 5384.4 build as beta 2? The site doesn't really have any details...

Does it run in VMware? Cause I might install it and use VMplayer under Gentoo to give it a go

OMG I was JUST gonna ask where to download Vista from, but this answers my question.

Teh Th4nk$ to teh j00 br0! L0Ng L!V3 teh 1337 :D

not released yet, any idea when will this be released :( where did u even get your info from?

Such a pretty web page. The least M$ could have done was made her nekked to add a real experience to Vista. :p

Still don't see the download up there.

then you must be right, and microsoft is wrong.

nothing to do now except stop posting in this thread...since its not coming out. because we all know that if it will ever be out, it must be out now; and if its not out now, its never coming out.

It's a shame they don't offer a live-cd version of the beta. I suppose they would have had to plan something like that from the begining.

DLing x64 english version at 775 kb/s. at first it was over a megabyte and a half per second for about 20 seconds...they got some nasty servers up.

I tried it out under VMWare workstation 5.5. It's doable - if you have patience. The install was so slow that I thought it crashed but I just let it keep running and finally it got installed after a couple hours.

Once you're logged in you can do stuff but again, it's very slow - likely due to the high graphics requirements and VMware's nonexistant 3d graphics support

Sweet, it's (based on?) the same 5384.4 build as released several days ago. I don't have to waste time downloading it. :D Oh well, I got another key out of it.

is there a time limit on the beta? ..like 30 days or something and then it blows up your computer..?

Look 2 posts above your post. It expires in June 2007.

You have 14 days to activate it before that.

hmm any torrents for the public beta?
Why? The download manager is giving excellent speed, much faster than a new torrent would give.

sorry, I didn't know it was fast download. I didn't start the download yet, thought someone earlier said it was slow speeds. I misread :(

You folks must be lucky, I am getting some terrible download speeds right now. 28KB/sec. Est: 1 Day 8 Hours (Comcast Cable) Haha. I might try again later tonight hopefully their servers will stop being hit so hard.

Downloading now. Now to find a computer to install it on... No extra partitions on my lone raptor... :(

How big is this thing supposed to be? I downloaded it, but it's only 550MB, where I read somewhere else it's supposed to be 3.13GB???

It's around 3gb, which is gonna take about 3 1/2 days for me, so I think I'm just gonna order the disc.

When i start up the download manager, after about 30secs it says under status that i have a "Fatal Error" and i have tried it on 2 PCs already. Any Ideas?

It finaly started the download, but it keeps losing the connection.
