Vista and Xp startup

So i have a dual boot setup, both OS work fine but during startup both pause. The little load bar actually freezes for both operating systems, what could be the possible causes for this?
 
a piece of hardware taking a bit of time to wake up/register with a driver
 
It turns out that the marvell IDE on my P5Q Pro board was the cause, disabling it removed the wait.
