I seem to be finding an annoying trend here with using microphones and Vista in any flavor. I goggled a ton of people having the same problem that I have encountered, which is my mic's output volume is extremely low but I already have the setting for it to 100 and added any boost options that were found. My desktop has Vista 64 Ultimate on it with a SB XFi sound card that Ive been mainly trying and Ive tried my laptop which has Vista 32 Home Premium. The headset is a Cyber Acoustics USB thing that has served me well in the past.
As I kept searching for any solutions I noticed lots of people had the same problem but nothing seemed to be the same except for the problem itself; that the mic was quiet and they were using Vista. People with all sorts of old mics plugged into sound cards or people using new USB mics and every variation of Vista pretty much (32bit, 64bit, Premium, Ultimate, etc) as well as every sort of program like MSN, Yahoo, Skype, Vent and Teamspeak so I am very inclined to think that it might actually be a fault within Vista.
My only options I have that I am down to is trying this headset in XP to verify if the mic itself on the headset is past its prime, getting another headset to try out or some sort of crazy fix I havent encountered yet. A 3rd party sound mixer would be nice but if it would even work with a USB mic is beyond me.
Any ideas?
